הונוואלד שנדור שמחה (קולוז'וואר 1914- בודפשט 1945) (Hunwald, Sandor Szimcha (1914 Kolozsvár -Budapest 1945)

שמחה הונוואלד הגיע לבודפשט, בתקופת מלחמת העולם הראשונה, ב-1931 הצטרף לתנועה הציונית, ובשל כך הורחק מן הגימנסיה היהודית.

ב-1942 עם תחילת גירוש היהודים מסלובקיה ארגן את קבלתם של הנמלטים להונגריה, שקיבלו את תעודותיהם של צעירים יהודים הונגרים. תפיסתם של אחדים מן הפליטים הביאה את המשטרה אליו. הונוואלד נשלח תחילה למחנה העונשין בגראןGarany , ואחר כך נשלח במסגרת פלוגת עונשין לחזית אוקרינה.

ב-1944 ניצל את התמוטטות החזית וברח. נתפס בגבול הונגריה והוחזר לחזית. בחודש אוקטובר ברח שוב, והגיע לבודפשט והשתלב בפעילות ההצלה ב 'בית הזכוכית'.

אימץ לעצמו את השם הנס קוהנה (Hans Kuhne) ובאמצעות מכונית שהעמיד לרשותו סגן הקונסול השוויצרי קרל לוץ חילק תעודות מזויפות ליהודים הנרדפים. בימים הראשונים של 1945 נעצר לפני 'בית הזכוכית', שוביו הביאו אותו למרתפי משרד הפנים ושם רצחו אותו.

ב-1947 אחר מותו עוטר באות של הרפובליקה ההונגרית. ב-1945 חודשה תנועת השומר הצעיר בהונגריה והמעון הראשון שלה נשא את שמו.

 Following deportation of Jews in Slovakia in 1942, the Zionist youth in Hungary offered the refugees their own ID cards. However, when the foreigners were caught, the police found them. Sándor Hunwald was arrested and then sent to the Ukraine. When the front collapsed in 1944, he took the opportunity and escaped. However, he was caught at the Hungarian border and sent back. After another escape, he arrived in Budapest in October and took part in the activities in the 'Glass House'. As an official of the Swiss Embassy under the protection of Karl Lutz, he received a false identity, “Hans Kühne”, and he distributed the forged protection letters to persecuted Jews.

In early 1945 he was arrested in Vadász street near the 'Glass House'. He was possibly killed in the cellar of the Ministry of Interior. He was posthumously decorated in 1947 by the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic. And the first home of the reorganized Hashomer HaTsair youth movement was named after Hunwald in 1945.
